Money is still "the first great requisite."
Donations from friends of the Papers of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony make up a sizeable part of our budget. Individual donations are also an indication to foundations and federal agencies that there is public interest in the edition and a public willingness to pitch in and help publish Stanton's and Anthony's papers.
